As part of the 2011 Brighton Science Festival, we're running a series of workshops designed to teach you the core skills needed to start work on your own hackspace style projects - home automation, interactive art, blinky LEDs, whatever you put your mind to!

Soldering is Easy

Make (and keep) the BuildBrighton Colour Sharing Zombie Apocalypse Badge (version 2)!
After the fun we had with our White Night 2010 badge making workshop, we thought we'd upgrade it a little and give others the chance to spread some zombie love whilst learning just how easy it is to use a soldering iron.
The workshop lasts around 2-3 hours, and all equipment is provided.
Introduction to Electronics
Sat 26th Feb, 11am & 3pm - Tickets £15 (includes basic electronics kit) book here
BuildBrighton show you how to start building your own inventions. Learn about switches, LEDs, transistors, capacitors, resistors, and most importantly - sensors.
Workshop lasts 3 hours, all equipment is provided.
Introduction to Microcontroller Programming

Program your Zombie Apocalypse Badge to do your own bidding!
Our Zombie Badge is not just a toy - it’s a fully functional microprocessor programming platform, based around the Atmel AVR ATtiny processor - the baby brother of the Arduino. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of a programming language should be able to follow along. If you’re comfortable with programming an Arduino, you won’t have an issue.
You’ll need to bring a laptop capable of running a VMware virtual machine, or a working AVRstudio setup. All other equipment will be provided.
