The eMAKER Huxley is one of the smallest 3D printers available at the moment in terms of footprint but not in terms of build volume. Its primary design goals were to offer a printer which was small enough to be portable, fast to replicate, and fast to assemble and commission. Since its inception at the end of 2010, the eMAKER Huxley has undergone brisk development and heavy testing. Two prototype machines have been built, although neither now looks the way it started life. The great thing about these machines being self replicating is that they can print upgrades and replacement parts for themselves.

Currently running the ReprapPro branch of the Marlin firmware with a few modifications to the pins.h to match our Sanguinololu 1.3a controller board.
Original nichrome heatbed has now been replaced with a, hopefully more reliable, reprappro PCB heatbed.
A new extruder has been printed to replace the old unit that was causing print quality issues.
Ideas for Future Upgrades
A lot of the prints that have been attempted on this printer so far have been very small, and the plastic has not always had enough time to cool before the next layer is laid down. The biggest hastle when getting the printer ready to print is setting the z height on the printer. Something like this: http://reprap.org/wiki/CrashProbe
- note: I have all the parts for this ready to go, but it currently depends on a different firmware to the one we are using.
Needed to prevent to filament getting all tangled up while printing.
Need to kep the moisture content of the filament as low as possible to ensure the best quality prints. Combine this with the spool holder so that you can print without having to take the reel out of the storage box for bonus points.
